Meet Sunflower!
This stunning show-stopper puppy is a 6 month old purebred Australian Shepherd. But don't let her glamour shots fool you -- she is all goofy puppy and tender snuggling.
She is incredibly smart and learns faster than most. She is sweet but also a tad insecure in new situations and needs mental stimulation for so many reasons - but especially to build her confidence.
We love this girl and will make sure she goes to a home with Aussie experience. Preference given to applicants in Boulder County. She would not do well in a Denver home (too much noise, and too many people and dogs). She barks when she sees dogs on leash, so a mountain home or someone near the foothills would be ideal. A fenced yard is preferred as well (but not required).
She lives with cats and a dog and gets along great with them. With the right guardian, she would easily make a good therapy dog. She visited an assisted living facility and cautiously but lovingly met the residents. She was calm and sweet with every person she met, despite wheelchairs and walkers. True to her name, she brightened their day.
Whoever adopts her will need to commit to lifelong clicker training program for this most precious angel. She is currently working privately with a Karen Pryor Academy trainer on a daily basis and enrolled in classes at Boulder Humane.
For more information about this wonderful girl, go to the top toolbar, click Adopt, click Dog Application, fill it out and send it in. A volunteer from Summit Dog Rescue will get back to you as soon as they can.
