Meet Sterling - adopted
Hi! I'm Sterling! I'm new to Summit Dog Rescue and I'm learning that life in the mountains is a lot of fun -- especially when my awesome foster mom feeds me bits of hot dogs!
I'm housetrained and I love praise, attention, and of course food! When visitors come over, my foster mom lets them feed me yummy treats through a gate inside the house --- then I get to come out and give sweet lovies to everybody! I'm still learning about city life (and that means learning how to cope with new things on the street), but I'm getting trained with lots of treats on my walks, and I'm a big fan of that!
I'm OK in cars, my coat is beautiful, and they say I smell good! I'm wary with kids as I haven't figured them out yet, so Summit Dog Rescue is saying No Kids for me, please and thanks.
I'm really intelligent, sensitive and eager to learn, though! I already know Sit and Lie Down, and I'm sure I can learn lots of great new things with my forever people.
I'm a handsome boy and I'm getting my bearings here in Colorado. People say I'm a mix of Aussie Shepherd and Border Collie, and that makes me really smart! My estimated date of birth is August 10, 2017 (a Leo!) and right now I'm about 1-1/2 years old.
My background was around dogs who stole my food, so my adopters will need to train me that there's plenty to go around. My foster mom is currently feeding me separately from her dogs, and at different places around her house, just so I won't identify any one particular location as mine. She says I'm doing really well at this and will need ongoing training.
But I love my temporary sibs in my foster home! One of my foster sibs is an old partially-blind Cairn Terrier, and I'm really respectful of my elders and the other dogs in the house - especially because we all like to play together!
I've been known to cuddle in people's laps and lick their faces when they have dog cookies available, so whoever adopts me is sure to get a great sidekick forever! I have a bit of separation anxiety, but let's work on that one together! Summit Dog Rescue says the ideal adopter(s) will be home a lot and be a fun, active person.
If you want more info and/or to apply to adopt me, go to the top toolbar, click Adopt, click Dog Application; then fill it out and send it in. A nice volunteer from Summit Dog Rescue will get back to you as soon as they can.
