Meet Sammy - Brittany Spaniel! - adoption pending

Introducing Sammy, a gorgeous Brittany Spaniel!
Sammy is looking for his forever home. Sweet, smart and full of energy - this guy will make a fabulous dog for someone who understands the breed and is ready and committed to loving him and meeting his needs.
Sammy is shy and uncertain meeting new people; but once he is your friend, he greets you with tail wags and eagerness to play.
A confident resident dog would be excellent for him (and it’s preferred). He will do best in a more spacious environment than downtown Boulder, or in a home with an active person who can take him to open spaces regularly. No apartments or townhomes please.
Like most bird dogs, he’s obsessed with eyeing and chasing birds …. So we are going to require his adopter to work closely with our behavior team as well as hire a force-free trainer to work with him so he can learn to channel this (FetchMasters, LLC is a fantastic resource for gun dogs). Sammy would also enjoy a sport!
Sammy has lived with cats and dogs successfully, and he’s been loving play dates with the neighbor dogs.
He needs continued work learning attention to handler, confidence in the world, learning to settle and leash walking. He is a rescue and his first year of life sounds like his needs were not met, on multiple levels.
