Meet Rufus
MORE VIDEO! -- Click here to see a brand new adorable video of Rufus in action on our SDR Facebook page. He loved getting treats on the deck of his foster mom's house!
Hi, my name is Rufus! I am an adoptable Lab mix puppy (with maybe some Hound in me) in Boulder, Colorado. I wasn't sure what was going to happen to me, but after a rough early start in life I got on an airplane, and flew through the sky from Louisiana to Colorado. Now I'm in a fun home where my foster family is teaching me all the cool stuff that will make me ready for my forever home.
I'm not very confident yet and I've never lived in a house, so I'm having to get used to all the scary sounds and activities that happen inside. My ideal home would be calm and relaxed, dog savvy people who will love me forever.
I like gentle play and hanging out on the couch -- even better is when someone cuddles with me. I don't mind sleeping in the crate at night, but I am not fond of it during the day yet.
I'm learning the difference between being outside and being inside, and am figuring out that when I go potty outside I get lots of praise and treats, and I really like treats!
I would really like to live in a home where I can have a confident older dog friend to show me the ropes of life as a canine companion. I'm still growing, and even though I'm not sure who my parents were, I'm told I could grow to be pretty big and strong. I am already 23 lbs. and my photos do not do me justice.
Here's what Summit Dog Rescue has to say about me: "Strong preference will be given to a home with a backyard or acreage. No apartments, townhomes or condos for this guy. He definitely needs a home with another dog to play with, or even just to follow around for input. Rufus is a bit shy with new places due to his tough start. No kids (as per SDR policies, and due to his shyness)."
That's cool and all right with me! For more info and/or to apply to adopt me, go to the top toolbar, click Adopt, and click Dog Application; then fill it out and send it in. A nice volunteer from Summit Dog Rescue will get back to you as soon as they can.
