Meet Ruby - courtesy post
Meet Ruby! She's a very loving and smart 18-month-old, 60-lb. Boxer/Staffy/Pointer/Border Collie mix, and that makes her a very wonderful and active girl. She's spayed and up to date on her doggie shots and veterinary checkups.
Ruby loves to play soccer and catch a frisbee. She also loves training sessions and is eager to learn new commands, especially when tasty treats are the reward.
She was rescued at the age of 4 months, and since then has been raised with force-free training methods plus lots of love from her family.
The need for her to find a new home is due to an unsafe dynamic between Ruby and her older canine brother. Ruby wants to play with him, but he's overwhelmed by her. However, this is only with him, as Ruby plays very well and happily with several other dogs on a regular basis.
Ruby loves to go on walks and is very good at loose-leash walking. She can be overeager to greet other dogs on the trail, but she's made great progress with learning to refocus on her human. Other than playing ball and going on walks, her favorite activity is snuggling on the couch with her family.
She loves people and will be a great companion to either an active single person or an active family. She's grown up in a family with teenagers and without cats, so we're recommending she go to a home with kids age 10 or older, and no cats. She may do well in a home with another dog of the right temperament, but it's also recommended for her to be the only dog in the home.
We can supply videos of her playing with other dogs on request. She's currently on calming medications to ease the dynamic with her brother, however her vet believes she can be weaned from those meds once she's in an ideal home.
For more info and/or to apply to adopt Ruby, send an email of inquiry to us here at Summit Dog Rescue, letting us know a bit about yourself and your home situation. Our email is summitdogrescue@yahoo.com. Thanks.
IMPORTANT: Please specify "Ruby the Boxer mix" in your email of inquiry, as we currently have two Rubies courtesy posted on this website. Thanks.
