Meet Percival
Hi! I'm Percy! I have a big personality for a little dog.
I'm really affectionate and love to be close to my people. I'm good with cats and have great dog friends. I'm mostly happy-go-lucky, but I had a crummy life before I got to Summit Dog Rescue. My foster mom would love for me to be adopted in Boulder area, but if you are a great home SDR would consider a home elsewhere.
I'm a smaller dog - only 18 lbs. - and I don't know yet that the approach of a human hand is always safe. Most of my life I was picked up, squeezed, stuffed in purses, vaccinated and even hit by humans - it was all too scary - but now that I've had time to decompress I'm a very affectionate little guy with everyone I meet. When I meet new people I'm super excited and I'm immediately affectionate, but you need to monitor my body language to make sure I don't get scared. Normally I don't now because my awesome foster mom has made me feel like the world is safe.
My foster mom is pretty sure I was born in a puppymill. I'm a purebred Shih Tzu and that would explain my crummy conformation and my fear of being grabbed. I do love giving kisses and I am SOOO happy to meet anyone who comes into the house. I live with cats, a dog and multiple teenagers.
I love going for walks, playing and snuggling. I really enjoy being outside and walking. I really would like a home with a porch or deck that I can sit on sometimes. I love watching the world go by.
I'm housetrained and trustworthy with free roam. I'm good in the car and enjoy outings. Sometimes my foster mom lets my coat grow out, and sometimes I go to the doggie hair salon to get my coat clipped -- but as you can see, either way I'm completely adorable (at least that's what they tell me).
Summit Dog Rescue is saying, "Preference given to Boulder area adopters," please and thanks.
For more info about me and/or to apply to adopt me, go to the top toolbar, click Adopt, click Dog Application; then fill it out and send it in. A nice volunteer from Summit Dog Rescue will get back to you as soon as they can.
