Meet Otter
UPDATE 9/20/21: Otter had a great day at SDR’s mountain dog retreat today, enjoying the crisp weather and lots of attention and smells. He looks so serious in all his photos, but he’s really not! Otter is a sweet, snuggly awesome dog who loves so much about his life in rescue. He is also incredibly smart and loves to learn.
He spends his days playing with the resident dogs, training and then snuggling like it’s a sport.
We love this boy. Our hearts are invested in him and we want an awesome home for him!
Please understand how our rescue works; we aren't an average rescue. We pour our hearts into these dogs and are all volunteers.
-------------------------------------------
Meet Otter! He's an 18-month-old, 50-lb. Golden Labradoodle. He's very smart, and as we suspected, he loves to learn.
Otter loves people and is sweet and adorable.
Otter will need someone smart and committed to working with his trainer. If you aren't interested in training, please do not even inquire.
We are looking for a BOULDER AREA home OR someone with close proximity to nature. Otter enjoys nice walks on trails. His nervous system is overstimulated in urban environments.
We think he'll be OK without another resident dog in the home but would also thrive as a solo dog.
. Please note that Otter has a tendency to shed, unlike most Doodles.
Your best bet is to email us at [email protected], with a short paragraph about you, your lifestyle and why you are interested in Otter. We will then let you know if we think it’s worth filling out an application or just not the right fit. Thx!
P.S. Otter's life story is why we really need to look at the whole "Doodle craze" with a critical eye. Doodles are normally low-shedding but remember they're still canines, and they have the same species-specific needs as their shedding counterparts. They shouldn't be bought for children as a sweet gift unless the adult has the time, energy, knowledge of canine needs and a budget for a sentient being with similar emotional and cognitive capabilities of a 4-year-old human. Just sayin'.
