Meet Moon - adopted
UPDATE 6/9/20: Summit Dog rescue is looking for 1-2 acres for Moon, and preference will be given to a home with another dog. Moon likes to play some with his foster sister, Midge - and then rest the remainder of the day in the shade or by his foster mom while she works. We remind potential applicants that Moon will absolutely need a rural setting for his forever home, which means we're only accepting applications from people who can offer him a rural home or farm. This means no urban environments, no townhomes, no apartments, please and thanks. We need to be especially careful placing this super-wise old soul who needs a wonderful, stable forever home due to his recent history of many changes in his life. We're also saying no kids under 15, and applicants must have a yard and ideally another dog that will be somewhat open to a little bit of playing, and also willing to be a role model for this young boy. At this juncture we are not considering any applications out of state or more than a 3-hour drive from Denver.
Thanks for your patience. Rescue has become a bit more challenging for our volunteers during Covid, so we appreciate your understanding.

Moon is an adorable, super sweet and friendly 11-month-old Great Pyrenees/Border Collie mix. He'll be about 80-85 lbs. when fully grown.
Moon is housetrained, up to date on his doggie shots, good with dogs and cats - and sweet as can be. He's also a quick learner. Because of his sheltered beginning in life - having never left his home or property for the first 8 months of his life - he'll need patient humans who are willing to allow Moon to settle in at his own pace, limit social interactions with strangers during this time and help him become confident in our human world. He is learning to walk quietly on leash, learning basic skills such as sit, down, wait and how to be comfortable in new situations.
Moon is in a wonderful foster home that has a young female dog and he loves hanging out in the yard with her and chickens. There is also an alpaca, goats and a pig at his foster home! Moon has done beautifully with all the animals after a few days of adjustment.
Potential adopters will need a rural home with a fenced yard in order to be considered for Moon. A resident dog that will help Moon adjust to his new home and offer support and socialization is a plus.
Moon is super friendly to all adults and will do best in a home with adults only or with a family with children over 15 years old. We are limiting applications that meet those requirements.
Please apply for Moon if you live in a rural setting - no townhomes, urban neighborhoods or apartment homes will be considered.
