Meet Mica - courtesy post
Meet Mica!
Mica is an adorable medium-haired orange tabby. She's 10 years old, born August 31, 2012. Her person got her from a shelter in California when she was 4 months old. Mica was the runt of her litter and has always been small, weighing between 4-1/2 - 5-1/2 lbs. throughout the past 6 years. She was spayed and microchipped as a kitten, she's litterbox trained, and she's up to date on her rabies shots. A few years back Mica had 9 teeth extracted, and has always been fed high quality foods -- now soft foods mostly (because of her teeth).
Mica is very sweet and gentle. She loves cuddles and focused attention, and also enjoys lounging and napping on her cat tower or on comfy, soft areas -- like the back of the couch in a sunny window. If you're lying on the cough, she'll often jump on your chest for a nap, or will sit in her people's laps around the house. She also loves to burrow under blankets and comforters, and will sleep close by at night -- on the foot of the bed on a cozy blanket, or right next to her person's head.
Mica loves sitting in front of the wood stove when it has a fire going, also playing with toys with her person; and she enjoys being brushed and touched.
She loves being outside and has become very accustomed to having access to the outdoors, which is vital for her happiness. She has only had outdoor exposure in a mountain living setting, not around city traffic; so a new living situation in a similar setting away from city traffic would be ideal for her. An apartment would not work for her needs. She also enjoys watching the grasshoppers and moths in the garden and lounging in the garden beds on hot days if there's shade. Though she and her people live around wildlife she has always been smart about keeping herself out of harm's way, and likes to explore outside.
Mica would do best in a quiet, mellow household that doesn't have a lot of commotion. She often hides when new people come over but then emerges when it's clear things aren't going to get rowdy. It would be best for her to be the only pet. An older, truly mellow, dog that does not bark a lot could work for her, but ideally she'd be the only pet and get a lot of attention.
Her people are rehoming Mica due to a lifestyle change within their family: they now have a baby and won't be able to give Mica the attention she needs, coupled with their desire to save Mica from the stressors of being around a toddler.
For more info and/or to apply to adopt Mica, send an email of inquiry to [email protected], telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you as soon as they can. Thanks.

Disclaimer: The companion animal you are interested in is a courtesy post. Summit Dog Rescue often helps dogs and cats outside our organization to find their forever homes, and these are called "courtesy posts.” By courtesy posting pets from owners and other rescues, we offer our website (and sometimes email assistance) as a resouce to help their pet gain extra exposure. The pet’s bio comes directly from the owner or rescue, and we expect them to provide accurate information, to the best of their knowledge. Summit Dog Rescue in most cases has not met or evaluated these companion animals, so no information about a courtesy post dog or cat is guaranteed. We cannot accept responsibility for any injury or damages to any person or property caused by any courtesy post animals. Courtesy post pets are the sole responsibility of the owner and the adopter. In addition, SDR cannot take these pets in if the courtesy post adoption does not work out.
Also, although we occasionally might ask you to email us (if you’re interested in adopting a courtesy post pet), it’s just so we can help the owner or rescue connect with applicants. You’ll be adopting your new pet directly from the owner or the other rescue, not from Summit Dog Rescue. Please let us know if you’re comfortable with us sharing your information with the owner of the courtesy post pet.
