Meet Lucy
Meet Lucy! She's about 4 years old and a very sweet and mellow girl -- but put her with her foster buddies and she loves to play!
Lucy was rescued from an unfortunate situation where she was kept in a kennel a lot, so she's used to hanging out and being mellow. She's a very gentle eater and loves to eat out of your hand if you happen to have the right treats handy.
Here's what her foster mom has to say about her: "Lucy is SO SWEET. Very gentle. Loves to be loved. I haven't heard her bark yet. She hasn't chewed on anything she's not supposed to. Lucy loves to follow you around - stays at your side. She's also curious and has to check out everything, but does so super gently. She knows how to chew on bones, but not sure she's had toys as we haven't been able to get her to play. She does want to play with other dogs and does this hilarious tap dance when she's trying to get someone to play with her.
"Lucy LOVES to be outside. She LOVES to lay on the couch. Is kind of a princess. She eats when she's hungry. She could totally be free-fed (and probably was). She's not protective of anything: toys, food, people.
"Lucy isn't the 'run up and meet people' type of dog. She's not really scared, just kind of leery. That lasts about 30 seconds...then she'll let you pet her, then move in closer for more if they stop.
"I think she's be the PERFECT dog, in my opinion. She'd probably do well with another dog who could teach her how to 'dog' and enjoy life."
When Lucy was rescued, she was discovered to have heartworm - a common condition where she came from. She's on the mend with a medication regimen and we expect she'll soon be back to full health.
For more info and/or to apply to adopt Lucy, go to the top toolbar, click Adopt, click Dog Application; then fill it out and send it in. A volunteer from Summit Dog Rescue will get back to you as soon as they can.
