UPDATE 4/23/20: We're not taking new applications for Layla at present, as we're busy processing current applications. Thanks for your patience.

Hi! I'm Layla!
I'm a gorgeous 72 lb. Pyr mix... I love hiking, snuggling by the fire and being with friends. I may be a Maremma mix... but no one has seen my birth certificate so it is a constant source of conversation at our house!
I'm housetrained and good in the house with free roam. I enjoy car rides and playing with toys.
My ideal person would be an outdoorsy person who likes hiking and being outdoors, but also chilling around the house. I would do best on some property or next to open space. My ideal home would be in the mountains or out by Gunbarrel, etc. In a perfect world it would have a fenced area (but for right person, not required).
*My rescuers WILL NOT consider a home in the city for me, as I like to bark when outside.
*Strong preference given to someone with LGD/PYR experience.
I'm spayed and up to date on all my veterinary checkups. In my foster home I live with two kitties and I love them. Check out my pic above with my foster bro Mr. Cat -- I'm good with kitties! I like dogs when I am out and about but inside, it would have to be the right dog - because I sure love my humans and sharing with another dog might be hard for me inside.
My amazing foster mom took a video of me taking a snow bath! You can watch it above. Heaven!
When I get home from my adventures, I just like to be by your feet while you're on your computer or reading... but if you're want to go on another adventure I'm all in!
Summit Dog Rescue thinks I'll do best in a rural setting, as I'm a livestock guardian and I like to bark when outside in the yard. Hey - that's the job I've been bred to do!
Preference given to someone with some acreage OR someone with livestock guardian experience.
For more info and/or to apply to adopt me, go to the top toolbar, click Adopt, click Dog Application; then fill it out and send it in. A nice volunteer from Summit Dog Rescue will get back to you as soon as they can.
