Meet Emersyn - courtesy post
Meet Emersyn!
He's a sweet 18-month-old Lab mix weighing 50 lb., who's neutered and housetrained. He loves playing with other dogs, does great walking on a leash, and is kennel-trained. He's a bit shy but he's also very kind and a real sweetheart.
If you ever felt like you didn't fit in, or were in the wrong place, but knew in your heart that somewhere you truly belonged ... keep reading about sweet Emersyn, and please share his story. Let's find his home in 2024.
Emersyn was born in Arkansas and for reasons unknown to rescue, he was relinquished to the shelter at 6 months of age. He laid there, alone on the concrete floor wondering what he had done to deserve such a fate. He had only been kind and gentle with the people. Why hadn't his people wanted him? Maybe they only wanted him when he was a cute puppy... perhaps he had been a Christmas gift and just like the toys strewn about the floor, he was no longer wanted. Why was he not loved like the pictures he had seen on TV, of the dog in front of the fireplace? Maybe he was not worthy. Maybe he just didn't fit in.
Then a wonderful shelter volunteer saw him, and connected with his sweet soul and knew he had to be saved. She reached out to a wonderful Labrador rescue in Colorado and asked that they take him. Hmmm... he doesn't exactly look like a Lab but he is gentle and sweet although shy and timid in the cold, clanky shelter. The rescue agreed to take him in!
Emersyn got his paperwork and loaded on the van to Colorado on a warm spring morning in 2022... the other dogs told him that on this van you go to Colorado and then your forever people will find you! Emersyn's heart burst with joy... his forever people would now be able find him, and he would live that life he had dreamed of - fireplace and all.
But when he got to Colorado, it was busy and crowded and he found the streets scary and the bustling and noise was hard. Wonderful, loving people surrounded him and told Emersyn he was safe and he could stay with his foster people until his perfect, forever home could be found.
But now it has been 1-1/2 years... and his forever home has not found him. We all know his people are out there... but they haven't found him yet. You see, Emersyn's perfect home is not in the city - it's up in the mountains where he has space to run and the only noises are hawks soaring above and elk bugling in the meadows. Emersyn likes open spaces... and the quiet of mountain life. He would also love then to come inside and snuggle on that rug in front of the fire. In fact, he is a perfect gentleman indoors but when outside he delights in the deep smells of nature and watching the clouds pass overhead.
Emersyn LOVES other dogs and needs to go to a home with a friendly resident dog. He loves his people and has a purely gentle soul, but needs a little bit of time to trust strangers.
Please share Emersyn so that his forever people can find him. Although Summit Dog Rescue is stepping in to help find him a great home, you can see Emersyn's full story, photos and videos by going to the amazing Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue's website. Disclaimer: The companion animal you are interested in is a courtesy post. Summit Dog Rescue often helps dogs and cats outside our organization to find their forever homes, and these are called "courtesy posts.” By courtesy posting pets from owners and other rescues, we offer our website (and sometimes email assistance) as a resouce to help their pet gain extra exposure. The pet’s bio comes directly from the owner or rescue, and we expect them to provide accurate information, to the best of their knowledge. Summit Dog Rescue in most cases has not met or evaluated these companion animals, so no information about a courtesy post dog or cat is guaranteed. We cannot accept responsibility for any injury or damages to any person or property caused by any courtesy post animals. Courtesy post pets are the sole responsibility of the owner and the adopter. In addition, SDR cannot take these pets in if the courtesy post adoption does not work out.
Also, although we occasionally might ask you to email us (if you’re interested in adopting a courtesy post pet), it’s just so we can help the owner or rescue connect with applicants. You’ll be adopting your new pet directly from the owner or the other rescue, not from Summit Dog Rescue. Please let us know if you’re comfortable with us sharing your information with the owner of the courtesy post pet.
