Meet Ellie
Hi! I'm Ellie! No Kids, Sorry.
I'm about 55 lbs. and everybody says I'm a beauty -- and once I get to know you I can be a real snuggler! I am about 1-2 years old and they say I am a Bernese/Border Collie mix - which makes sense because I am sweet and smart.
My awesome foster mom here in Boulder has brought me back to health. She helped me gain weight, gave me my doggie meds, and helped me get well. She says I withstood that like a champ!
These days I’m learning some great new social skills. My temporary foster doggie sibs are quite friendly and amicable, and they’re teaching me to play and cuddle with them — which I love a lot!
And speaking of training, I’m house-trained — and I’m looking forward to learning other cool doggie stuff when my forever person(s) can teach me leash skills and Sit and Stay. Right now I find other dogs and squirrels on our walks just too fascinating — but I’m super smart and super-invested in my relationship with my humans. The second you tell me I’m doing something right with positive reinforcement, I respond and my behavior changes. I mean, who doesn’t like praise!
Actually I’m a true lover and I adore my peeps, following them everywhere. I’m a world-class kisser, too! When I wake my foster mom in the morning I’ll just stand there with my tail wagging ferociously while I kiss her for about 10-15 minutes.
My energy is mostly mellow so I won’t need a ton of exercise.
So — I’m a happy, gentle girl even though I’m a bit shy around new people. I’ll need a human who wants a soulmate, loves to snuggle, and has time and patience to help me socialize. I need time warming up to visitors. I'm not a fan of kids, so Summit Dog Rescue is saying No Kids, please and thanks.
I’d make a really great sidekick because I know how to be loyal and I love being with my human, and I’m learning that life has plenty of love, toys, bones and food to go around for everybody.
For more info about me, or to apply to adopt me, go to the top toolbar, click Adopt, click Dog Application, then fill it out and send it in. A nice volunteer from Summit Dog Rescue will get back to you as soon as they can.
