Meet Finn - a great mountain dog!
NEW! UPDATE 5-11-21: We now have a sponsor for part of Finn's adoption fee! This means his adoption fee is only $295. He comes with two free training sessions just to help his forever humans understand how to build his confidence in new settings. He's a really great dog and definitely worth it.
Check out this video on our Summit Dog Rescue Facebook page to see Finn walking in a park!

Meet Finn! A true mountain dog. He was born near the headwaters of the Colorado River and would love a home where he could hike on trails and then snuggle up by a crackling fire! Do you enjoy looking at the stars? Finn does, and he can help you remember how wonderful star gazing can be. Come sit next to him... and enjoy his gentle presence as you watch the Big Dipper rise in the dark sky. This big hearted boy was born to be a companion.
This beautiful 2-year-old boy is looking for his forever home. He has a huge heart that connects to those he trusts, and he is gentle and wise. He likes other dogs and would enjoy dog friends. He has a sweet soul in his eyes that is just waiting to connect with your heart, if you let him.
Once he knows you... he melts into you. Just toss some toys for him and he will be your bestie. He loves walking... and his nose enjoys the smells of the rabbits that ran through the bushes last night and the squirrels that made nests last night.
His foster moms say he enjoys cuddling and laying his head on their laps as they watch TV or read. He's just under 50 lbs. and loves going from room to room with his people.
He really enjoys being outdoors, and playing with toys is one of his favorite hobbies. He's housetrained, he loves going on car rides and he's quite a good boy in the house.
This guy has a sponsor for part of his adoption fee... so he is $295 and he does come up behavior support from our trainer, just to coach his humans on how to build his confidence in new settings.
We're looking for a gentle, loving home with some breed knowledge of Heelers/herding dogs OR a willingness to learn.
Probably no cats or bunnies, as I love them just a little too much. Maybe a super confident cat? But it would take some work.
FInn came into the shelter with another dog, and we think he would do better with a dog friend (although it is not required).
*Please no apartments or condos - this boy lived on a ranch, so making his world incredibly small would be tough on him. Denver would be tough for him.
*SDR does not adopt out dogs to homes with kids under age 12. Sorry.
If you want more info and/or to apply to adopt Finn, go to the top toolbar, click Adopt, click Dog Application; then fill it out and send it in. A volunteer from SDR will get back to you as soon as they can.
