Update Sept. 2019: We're currently holding off on training new volunteers until our Director returns from her travels, probably late in the year 2019. If you'd like to volunteer for Summit Dog Rescue, stay tuned and check back here for details in a couple of months. Thanks!

Help Wanted!
We are seeking volunteers to do phone interviews for adoption applicants. Ideal candidate enjoys talking to people on the phone, is detail oriented, can type up notes and understands dog behavior and how hard it is for dogs to transition into adoptive homes. Basic comprehension of force free training is desired. Ability to ask follow up questions is bonus! We provide an outline. This work is done at home, and can be time consuming. On average we take about an hour for an interview and another hour at most, preparing and entering notes. We ask for a commitment of 2 to 4 calls a month. The goal of the call is to gather information so that we know if the applicant should be moved on to the even more time consuming home visit (which is required before a dog is placed in a home). Many phone interviews do not end up in adoptions, due to timing or other glitches down the road. So it is important to understand that not every interview ends in an adoption, but some do! And without phone interviewers we cannot place dogs. It is the first step in the process and crucial to our mission of saving dogs. Please consider if this job sounds like something you'd be interested in committing to.
There are many wonderful ways you can help with SDR to volunteer. Here are just a few….. fostering, fund raising, work the table at events, admin work, graphic design work, helping fosters with dog sitting if needed, home visits, helping with applications or paperwork, etc, helping with admin duties which are endless.
We are always looking for dog loving volunteers! :)
