Meet Sugar and Smokey - bonded pair
Meet Sugar and Smokey!
We're looking for a great home for this bonded pair: mama kitty (Sugar) and her adorable male kitten (Smokey). We think they're a mix of Domestic Short Hair and Maine Coon Cat.
SUGAR'S STORY:
This little warrior kitty -- with a heart-shaped nose! -- has a heart as big as Everest. Probably dumped or poorly cared for in a small town in Nebraska, she found herself in the predicament of having to fend for herself and live on the streets.
When she found herself pregnant, she knew she had to seek help or her babies would not have a life of safety... so she showed up on a good-hearted woman's doorstep and meowed until they let her inside. Soon thereafter, her adorable little family was born.
The local shelter listed her and no one stepped forward to claim Sugar... so she came to us as a transfer, with her cute little babies in tow. She loves her babies and is a fun, young mom with them. She plays with them and cleans them, and if they go off to get into mischief, she calls them back with an adorable little purr/trill noise to collect her family. She is a top notch mama.
She also adores her people and follows her foster mom from room to room. She enjoys sitting next to you and being on the back of your chair, or next to you on the couch. She isn't annoying, doesn't seem to need to type emails for you on the computer... rather just enjoys that sweet warm proximity and some loving pets.
She really is a superb companion. She is litter box trained with no issues and is fine with some alone time from people as well: kind of the perfect mix of loving and independent enough that you can have a life, too.
Due to her life on the streets, she really does not like cats outside her immediate family. So we're saying No Other Kitties in the home besides Sugar and Smokey, please and thanks.
Sugar does live with a very mellow dog, and the dog ignores her totally. Sugar is scared of the dog, but does not engage with her at all. So we think she could go to a home with a dog that completely ignores cats and is pretty mellow. But a dog that has any interest in cats is a total No for Sugar. She deserves to feel safe and loved... every day of her life. She is an incredibly special girl.
Sugar is brand new to Summit Dog Rescue, and she's a terrific mother, as well as a sweetie pie who loves napping in the sunshine, purring in your lap, and tending her adorable babies just like a great mama does.
She has gorgeous tabby & white markings and will make a wonderful pet.
SMOKEY'S STORY:
Smokey is a gorgeous and somewhat rare Russian Blue mix. He's got a beautiful grey and white coat, but he's all play and snuggles! He loves cuddling up with his sisters and mama on the cat tree, and he enjoys watching the outside world through the windows.
Check out the three little kittens and their mama camping out in a fluff pile on their cat tree in the slideshow above. And see them all in action on their very own Reel on our SDR Facebook page!
For more info and/or to apply to adopt Sugar and Smokey, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.
