Meet Alvin aka Big Al - Courtesy post
Big Alvin is ready for his new home!
Alvin is a beautiful purebred St. Bernard who is guessed to be about 1-1/2 years old and 145 pounds.
He's a big boy with a huge head! This overgrown pup loves a good run/play but also is great at lounging around. He is good with most other dogs but can be selective - however he loves cats and is great with them.
He'll come with 2 free training sessions if needed. He's lived peacefully with other dogs but will need proper introductions as he can be dog selective (we get it!).
Alvin will need an experienced person with large breed dogs and even better someone who 'gets' Saint Bernards.
His foster dad loves him and he said this boy is magical! He needs a fenced in backyard to lounge in and would love to be in a cooler climate.
A property with some acreage would be ideal but he will roam without a fence.
He would love a horse property and is excellent with horses. Alvin is used to following two horses on trail rides for a 3-5 mile trek with other dogs. He'll gently paw you for attention and can get ‘mouthy’ (normal for young dogs) but is learning not to do this. He is really sweet and good with kids but may be too much for toddlers.
Great eyes and markings, very handsome! Good in the car. Loves going for walks, will turn heads wherever he goes.
He is currently in a foster home in the Denver area with the amazing Lucky Day Animal Rescue!
For more info and/or to apply to adopt Alvin, contact either Lucky Day Rescue at luckydayrescue.org, or send SDR an email at [email protected], telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.

Disclaimer: The companion animal you are interested in is a courtesy post. Summit Dog Rescue often helps dogs and cats outside our organization to find their forever homes, and these are called "courtesy posts.” By courtesy posting pets from owners and other rescues, we offer our website (and sometimes email assistance) as a resouce to help their pet gain extra exposure. The pet’s bio comes directly from the owner or rescue, and we expect them to provide accurate information, to the best of their knowledge. Summit Dog Rescue in most cases has not met or evaluated these companion animals, so no information about a courtesy post dog or cat is guaranteed. We cannot accept responsibility for any injury or damages to any person or property caused by any courtesy post animals. Courtesy post pets are the sole responsibility of the owner and the adopter. In addition, SDR cannot take these pets in if the courtesy post adoption does not work out.
Also, although we occasionally might ask you to email us (if you’re interested in adopting a courtesy post pet), it’s just so we can help the owner or rescue connect with applicants. You’ll be adopting your new pet directly from the owner or the other rescue, not from Summit Dog Rescue. Please let us know if you’re comfortable with us sharing your information with the owner of the courtesy post pet.
