Meet Spud - courtesy post

Hi! This is Spud! He is around 8 years old and we believe a Corgi/Chihuahua mix. My husband and I unfortunately need to re-home him because he is not good with children and has a bite history. Our vet does not believe him to be aggressive, but very fearful.

As far as his personality, Spud is more like a cat. He likes to be close to you, but not always petted. He prefers being scratched behind the ears instead of his belly. He loves going on walks. He's house trained, but will mark in the house if he smells other pets.

He is good with some dogs, but may be best as the only dog in a household. He is not good with cats, and prefers women to men. He learns quickly and is motivated by treats. He's been trained to heel on walks, but we have not been good at keeping up with it. I'm sure he would relearn quickly.

His ideal home would be a quiet, no-child home where his new people will enjoy walking him.

NOTE:   Applicants will need to commit to working with a force-free behavior consultant upon adoption to learn how to accommodate and modify Spud’s fear.

Thank you for helping us find a perfect forever home for Spud. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

For more information and/or to apply to adopt Spud, go to the top toolbar, click Adopt, click Dog Application;  then fill it out and send it in. A volunteer from Summit Dog Rescue will get back to you as soon as they can. You can also contact Bonnie Yurka directly for more info:   bonnieyurka48@gmail.com
