Meet Raji - courtesy post

Picture
Meet Raji!

Raji is a gorgeous, sweet, inquisitive and smart 1-year-old Siberian Husky. He was rescued from a crowded California shelter by his foster mom who lives in Boulder and who has been caring for him and training him. Summit Dog Rescue is stepping in to find Raji a great forever home.

Raji is very shy with new people likely from not having people contact while living for months at the overcrowded shelter. He is very affectionate and trusting with his foster family. It will take time, but he has great capacity for deep bonding and trust with caring devoted people. Once trust is established, he is responsive and loving. For a young Husky, Raji is easy to handle on a leash and is learning manners quickly. He does find the neighborhood bunnies and squirrels exciting, but is responding well to a clicker for redirection and treats.

Raji is a very handsome boy with beautiful blue eyes lined with black and unique reddish brown, creamy white and black markings.

He is housetrained, neutered, microchipped and up to date on his doggie shots. He's very smart and gentle, even if timid. He is getting better with crate training, sleeping in his crate at night. He does need attention, stimulation and walks during the day and would not do well being left alone in a crate for long hours.  He is a small Husky, weighing around 44 pounds.

He seems to get confidence with other dogs, and loves to play with the older Husky he lives with at his foster home.  It would be best for Raji to play with a dog  closer to his age as his desire for play is higher than his 10-year-old current dog friend.

The foster family has been slowly introducing Raji to their daughter's cat. They feel there is potential for him to get to know a cat and maybe even be buddies eventually, but it would take a slow careful socialization period. Raji has been very timid but gentle with their 5-year-old grandson. Again slow, careful intros with children is a good idea.

Raji is available for a meet and greet in Boulder, CO or nearby area after a phone/Zoom interview. When inquiring, please tell us about yourself, your home, other pets, children's ages if applicable, and time you can devote to Raji's care and routine.

Adoption donation of $200.

For more info and/or to apply to adopt Raji  send us an email at [email protected]. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.

Disclaimer:  The companion animal you are interested in is a courtesy post. Summit Dog Rescue often helps dogs and cats outside our organization to find their forever homes, and these are called "courtesy posts.” By courtesy posting pets from owners and other rescues, we offer our website (and sometimes email assistance) as a resouce to help their pet gain extra exposure. The pet’s bio comes directly from the owner or rescue, and we expect them to provide accurate information, to the best of their knowledge. Summit Dog Rescue in most cases has not met or evaluated these companion animals, so no information about a courtesy post dog or cat is guaranteed. We cannot accept responsibility for any injury or damages to any person or property caused by any courtesy post animals. Courtesy post pets are the sole responsibility of the owner and the adopter. In addition, SDR cannot take these pets in if the courtesy post adoption does not work out.

Also, although we occasionally might ask you to email us (if you’re interested in adopting a courtesy post pet), it’s just so we can help the owner or rescue connect with applicants. You’ll be adopting your new pet directly from the owner or the other rescue, not from Summit Dog Rescue. Please let us know if you’re comfortable with us sharing your information with the owner of the courtesy post pet.
