Meet Nova - courtesy post
Meet Nova! She's a 5-6 month old Shepherd/Husky mix as far as we know, weighing 32 lb., and she's cute as a button! She's spayed and up to date on her doggie shots, is mostly housetrained, and (because she's just beyond being a puppy) is learning how to use stairs. She already knows how to sit, and she's food-motivated -- really helpful when she gets doggie training.
Nova loves people and attention! She's great at fetch and adores her stuffed animal toys. She loves being outdoors and going on walks, and her people are giving her leash training. Once she gets the hang of that, she'll make a great hiking buddy.
Her people need to rehome her only because their living situation isn't optimal for a young dog like Nova, and they only want the best for this darling puppy. So do we!
She'll do great in a home with a fenced yard or acreage so she can run off some of her adorable puppy energy. For this reason SDR is saying No Apartments or Condos, please and thanks.
Nova is a great girl who gets along with other dogs, especially when she's introduced slowly since she's still so young. She can be a bit timid around smaller, hyper, or bigger dogs -- but with time and training she's likely to develop more trust.
She's OK being the only dog in the household, but she could use an older, relaxed dog to show her the ropes of doggyhood.
She's not sure about little kids yet, so her people are recommending she go to a house where the kids are at least 7 years old or older. Nova is also mostly untested with kitties. She's interested in them on walks but she hasn't yet had close interaction with them.
Although she's allowed on the bed at night with her people, she often prefers to curl up on the cool hardwood floor.
She's honestly a really good dog. She loves her people and loves to be around them. She still has some puppy tendencies, and her people are sure she'll make someone an excellent companion once she's had her basic doggie training.
For more info and/or to apply to adopt Nova, send an email of inquiry to SummitDogRescue@yahoo.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home life and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you as soon as they can.
