Meet Max - courtesy post
Meet Max! He's a 4-1/2-year-old boy currently living in Boulder, Colorado in need of a new home! We would love a home for him locally but can also transport him, if needed.
A bit about Max: He was found in Mexico and is what's called a Mexi Mutt (although he's a possible Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix). He's fully vetted, neutered, and up to date on his doggie shots.
Max is super SMART, obedient, and learns quickly. He would love to have a strong leader as he's very bonded to his current dad. He loves to cuddle and snuggle.
He's dog-to-dog friendly, great on leash, and he naturally heels. He's very treat-motivated and untested on cats. He is trained to stay on the bed when strangers enter the house, and true to his possible breed mix, he likes to herd members of the family.
He's a good boy and an absolute lover that got caught in a bad situation*. We had him assessed by a trainer last week and all went well.
*When Max's current Dad was out of town and Max was being watched by a friend, Max escaped out the front door and the friend ran in pursuit. He grabbed Max to capture him and Max bit him. This bite incident almost lost him his life. City of Boulder Animal Control did not issue a citation because they also agreed it was human error. Unfortunately the Dad still wants to rehome him as he has a new job that requires him to travel more.
His current Dad, who has had Max for 18 months, is very much part of this adoption process. If Max is adopted locally, his Dad is happy to meet prospective families and share Max's story. We also have a trainer that is willing to work with the adoptive family during the transition, if adopted locally.
Please get more details from his owner and his trainer about his personality and behavior.
LET'S FIND MAX A GREAT HOME.
If interested, please reach out to Lisa or Cathy at Help Tulum Dogs/Lost Dog Foundation, and/or Laura Marriott.
