Meet Koda - courtesy post

Picture
Meet Koda!

Koda is a 2-year-old purebred Great Pyrenees. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. He loves being outside, exploring, barking, and guarding, but also is a huge love bug and loves cuddles, snuggles and love.

Koda is goofy, energetic, happy, and playful (he loves his toys!) and is incredibly loyal, sweet, and devoted. He has been known to be an escape artist, so he's in need of a fully 6-foot fenced property.

He is crate- and house-trained, sleeps through the night, and responds to a large variety of commands. At times, he can also be stubborn (as Pyrenees are) and sometimes his response time is delayed by 30 seconds.

Koda is mostly friendly and playful with all dogs that he encounters out on walks, but he can be protective as well. He does not resource guard his normal food unless he finds a high value treat on a walk, or another dog tries to take his treats.

So although he gets along with most other dogs, we're saying no other dogs in the home, please and thanks.

He loves car rides and sticking his head out of the window into the wind. He also loves snow, bell pepper snacks, and a good snuggle at night. Koda is truly an incredibly special, gem of a dog.

An ideal home for Koda would be: Lots of land or property, must be contained and fenced in with a 6-foot fence, no cats, and ideally no other dogs (but we are considering homes with dogs in case this could work out.) It is ideal if this home has a desire for a guard dog on the property, whether just for safety or if there are any animals and they want to keep coyotes or wildlife away.

Also ideally, this home would allow Koda to come inside, give him lots of snuggles and love, and interact with him, play, etc. We are looking for a stable home with reliable and dependable owners, preferably who have experience with Great Pyrs and their traits and quirks (and do not mind barking). Our deepest fear in rehoming Koda is that he will end up with the wrong person or family, and they will then give him to a shelter, or rehome him again. We are also looking for really kind, loving, and all around good people to adopt him and treat him well.

For more info and/or to apply to adopt Koda, send an email to SummitDogRescue@yahoo.com telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you as soon as they can.
