Meet Hazel - courtesy post

Meet Hazelnut Meow Meow McChickenpants (Hazel)!

She was a Thanksgiving baby and is now a happy and very loving 7-month-old puppy. Although her exact heritage is unknown, her sister's DNA test showed Border Collie, Aussie, Chihuahua (never would've guessed!) and about 10 other breeds to a much lesser extent. We think she got the best of the best DNA and is an incredibly smart and sweet girl!

She's spayed and up to date on all shots. She's housetrained and knows how to sit, fetch, and chase her tail until she falls over. She is food-motivated, which makes training much easier.

She loves the great outdoors and is an extremely well socialized puppy. She gets along with almost every dog she's ever met, and loves children who know how to be gentle with her (although she's a puppy with puppy energy, so will still jump and play-nip for awhile -- supervised play is always a good idea).

Her people are very sad to re-home her and are only doing so because her energy level isn't a match for their kitten. If that weren't a conflict, they'd keep Hazel in a heartbeat.

She'd be happiest in a higher energy household, especially one with active people and another dog (if possible). Her daycare says they love her and she's one of the best puppies they've known. She gets along with everyone and is sweet and hilarious.

She'd do great in a home with a fenced yard, or even better, acreage to support her natural need to get out lots of energy (so no apartments or condos, please). She's a wonderful and sensitive soul who will thrive if she can be close to you day and night (or knows you're nearby). She doesn't thrive in crates and wants very much to stay with people rather than be in another room. With love, responsiveness, and attention, she'll make a wonderful addition to any gentle home.

For more info and/or to apply to adopt Hazel, send an email of inquiry to SummitDogRescue@yahoo.com telling us a bit about yourself, your home situation and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you as soon as they can.
