Meet Diesel - courtesy post - adopted
DIESEL
Yellow Lab male, 8 years 7 months old, sweet boy
Looking for new home because of anxiety with young children/toddlers/babies
Diesel has been in our family since he was an 8 week old puppy. In 2013, we brought our first baby girl home and he barked, growled, and demonstrated aggressive behavior toward her. Since then he has kept his distance, and we have kept Diesel away from our kids with baby gates, doors, or the garage. It's been really hard to even put him in another room because we love him so much. We have even tried regular doses of melatonin and a prescribed anxiety medication (60mg of Fluxetine per day). Now that we have 4 small children/babies his anxiety has worsened and he just can't be around children without getting nervous, growling, and shaking. However, Diesel was our sweet buddy and a very wonderful dog before we had our kids. He is quite the lover, protector, and has enough kisses to go around for everyone. He loves to snuggle and take naps, go on walks, go camping, play in the water, and chase a tennis ball. The typical Colorado puppy dog. He is very obedient, listens to all basic commands, and is potty-trained well enough to take himself to the bathroom through a doggy door, or will otherwise whine to be let out. We have left him alone overnight too. I haven’t always felt comfortable in my own home when my husband is gone, and he was always my guard dog. If you say, "Who’s there” or “What is it," he understands what that means. He is a great companion, and a wonderful dog that needs love and attention just as much as any other dog, or person.
Please consider him in your program, and please find him his new forever home.
Thank you,
Melissa & Sean Barnes
