Meet Chief - courtesy post

Hi my name is Chief. I’m a 70 lb., 2-year-old German Shepherd Dog. I’m neutered and up to date on all my vaccinations.

I’m a big goofball that loves to run and play. I’m also really smart and know lots of tricks like sit, down, and stay.

I am house trained and crate trained but I get really scared being alone, so I’d love for my new human to be someone who is home with me a lot. That way we could cuddle. I’d love to snuggle up with you.

I really need my new home to be a place where my family will be uber patient with me and always set me up for success. Yelling at me and forcing me to do things are big turn offs for me. I love to work, especially for food and praise. Positive reinforcement methods are mandatory to adopt me.*

I would do well with another dog that enjoys to play and will also be patient with me if I’m a bit awkward at times. But I wouldn’t mind being an only dog, either because then I would get all of the cuddles. Oh and I’ve never met a cat before so I’m unsure if we would be friends or not.

I do walk nicely on a harness and love to go for walks. I really enjoy car rides too.

Due to my size and zest for life I cannot live in a home with children. They are way too exciting for me to handle.
*Chief is not a dog for first time dog owners. Experience with positive reinforcement training is required. As part of the adoption agreement, adopters need to commit to taking Chief to an approved positive reinforcement trainer. A list of approved trainers can be provided or your preferred trainer can be evaluated for approval. This is non-negotiable in the adoption process. A receipt for multiple one-to-one sessions or a group class with an approved trainer is required before adopting Chief.
If you are interested in adopting Chief, please fill out an application at https://forms.gle/cwZP9eW7CVMSaiVF9. For questions about Chief you can email AdoptChieftheGSD@gmail.com. Serious inquiries only please.
