Meet Canelo - courtesy post
Hi! I'm Canelo! As you can see in my portraits, I'm a very special little guy! My back legs don't work right so some awesome people got me my very own doggie bicycle!
Maybe you've seen other dogs on Facebook who have their own bicycles, and I can tell you from firsthand experience they're awesome! Now I can run and play like every other dog, and that makes me really happy! Check out my playtime photos in the slideshow below, and one of the photos shows me playing with my special friend Sara who's also up for adoption.
Here's my story: An amazing woman who owns a rescue sanctuary in Oaxaca, Mexico drove me all the way to Colorado so she could find me a great forever home. She says I'll need a very special person or people who can help me with my physical needs, and if you're up for that, maybe I could be your special sweetie! And just think --- As you and I roll around town together, we'll be ambassadors for this great new technology. You never know --- maybe some of the people we meet will happen to know dogs who could use their own bikes!
One thing to know is that I have trouble controlling my housetraining (number one and number two) because of my disability. I wish things were different, and as much as I'd like to be housetrained, my body just won't cooperate. If you're up for putting me in a diaper at night and keeping an eye out during the day, that would be super!
And here's what my rescuer Suzanne has to say about me:
"This handsome fellow is Canelo --- a wonderful, loyal, sweet, cuddly, funny, intrepid, determined dachshund. He is about 4 years old and has had wheels for at least 2-1/2 years. Nothing stops him from living life except the occasional set of stairs. He loves to dig, chase a ball, chew on bones, eat any goodies you want to share, meet new people, explore new areas, stare at cats, run around with other dogs, ride in the car, bark to let you know that something is moving, have his ears scratched and give you a kiss when you tuck him into his bed at night. He is a joy to be around, which makes all the work of caring for him worth it. He turns heads wherever he goes and is a great "spokesdog" for compassion towards our canine friends. Canelo will adapt quickly to a loving, patient, active new home where he can be --- like any good dachshund --- number one! In return, he will give you unconditional love and devotion. Not a bad deal."
